CAV Terminal Units
Alp CAV terminal units are used in air conditioning systems to supply desired fresh air into spaces, conduct or exhaust air at constant volume.
Alp CAV (Constant Air Volume) terminal units provide pressure independent supply air at constant flow in constant volume systems.
CAV terminal regulates the supply air flow to a room independent from room load. In such systems, the amount of air to be supplied into the ambiance is stabilized in advance.
Motor-driven types have a motor operated damper, air flow sensor and related control equipment on the unit like variable volume units. Sometimes motor and control unit are placed in a single body. Non motorized types are self-controlled constant volume regulators which operate mechanically. These models do not require any electrical drive motor. They are used to provide non precision constant volume of +/-10%.
Since they don’t have a motor, they are more economic as compared to motor-driven types with control unit. CAV terminal units are made of either galvanized or stainless steel (AISI 304 or AISI 316) or plastic. Optionally, it is possible to add additional muffler and heater with thermal/acoustic insulated wall to the outlet of galvanized and stainless steel types. CAV terminal units operate independent of pressure. That is, even if the pressure on the inlet changes at certain intervals, the flow on the outlet always remains as specified and adjusted. It is possible to manufacture rectangular model of galvanized types. Types of CAV terminal units combined with an air-tight damper are commonly used in hospital and clean room applications.
Alp CAV terminal units:
- can operate within the ambient temperature range of 30°C – 100°C,
- can be used within the pressure range of 20 Pa – 1000 Pa and within the air velocity range of 2.2 m/sec – 10 m/sec,
- have a spring damper to stabilize the adjusted air flow,
- have low pressure loss.
- They have low sound level.
- They are compact.
- Shape of their damper wings is in conformity with linear control characteristic.
- air flow can be easily adjusted after their assembly if required.
- They can be assembled either horizontally or vertically.
